Senior & Executive Producer Concerns
 
….” We held a meeting to collect concerns from  executive and senior producers at CBC Toronto, in TV, Radio, cbc.ca. These are some of the issues raised. We have shared these concerns with a National CMG team that is meeting with the CBC in May to address issues of concern for senior staff…”    Carmel Smyth, President CMG Toronto, Apr 19/10

Issues Raised:

1. Downloading of former managers tasks

2. Confusion over what Managing Editors job description

3. Confusion over who is in charge of staffing, and staff development

4. Salary differences: between staffwho do and don’t manage multiple staff.

5. Self Assigning or Weekly or Daily Assignments: If you have to be at work every day you may be self assigned.

6.  Confusion over overtime buyouts:  its an option, not mandatory;  can be negotiated, and include extra value for working  weekends.

7. Confusion over Adrems: additional remuneration-this has nothing to do with overtime…it’s a merit based extra money based on special ability/skill/performance

8.The appointment procedure for senior and exec’s (is it a job or an assignment)

9.  Pagers and On Call:  concern over taking calls on of time.
